Boise State Partners with UI on Taxation, Law Degrees

Boise State’s College of Business and Economics has partnered with the University of Idaho College of Law to allow students to simultaneously earn a master of science in accountancy/taxation emphasis and a law degree.

The new JD/MSAT agreement allows students to earn both a juris doctorate and the accountancy degree in as few as three years, rather than the four years it would typically take.

“This cooperation between Boise State University and the University of Idaho provides a unique opportunity for Idaho residents,” said Kirk Smith, associate dean in Boise State’s College of Business and Economics. “An individual can earn two complementary and highly coveted graduate degrees in less total time than it takes to complete them sequentially. Graduates will have a tremendous background in tax law and be able to move into their careers more quickly.”

Students must apply separately to each program and be admitted to both the Boise State MSAT program and the University of Idaho College of Law in order to be eligible for the joint program. The two degrees are awarded separately, but the agreement facilitates credit transfers between programs so that students can earn both degrees in the most economical way.
