Micron Business and Economics Building

Welcome to the Department of Marketing

As of Fall 2016, our department has 470 undergraduate students majoring in Marketing and 129 seeking a Marketing minor.

Whether you are an undergraduate, graduate, or prospective student, we hope you will take the time to look through some of the information contained on this site to get a feel for what we are all about. Then stop by the department, e-mail us, or give us a call. We will be happy to visit with you.

Our department offers courses in business communication, international marketing, internet marketing strategy, and customer relationship management, among others.  Periodically, we offer special topics courses such as Sports Marketing.

Students have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in two consecutively sequenced Advertising Agency Management classes. Each year the American Advertising Federation sponsors a competition for member schools across the nation. Marketing students team with graphic design students to prepare a complete promotion and advertising campaign for a nationally known product the Federation has chosen. During the spring semester, students present their findings before advertising agency executives at a regional competition, from which one school advances to the national finals.  Our teams have placed in the top three at the regional competition several times, including a first place finish.

The Department of Marketing has a well-developed marketing internship program that provides students the opportunity to earn college credit while performing marketing-related activities for local non-profit and for-profit businesses. Students who participate in internships not only gain valuable work experience, but also make professional contacts that may lead to employment after graduation.
