Lauren is from Sacramento, California, where she was originally a hairdresser. Making the move to Boise with her husband sparked her interest in pursuing more education. She started at the College of Western Idaho and decided to push herself to earn a degree in Economics at Boise State University.
She started working with Close the Gap, a non-profit that works with refugees. She dedicates herself to public service and did novice policy work focused on Medicaid expansion, which has continued throughout her time at Boise State.
Lauren is a senior and works for the Department of Corrections with research analysts and is able to see how criminal justice reform has worked here in Boise, while making sure disenfranchised people get access to services provided.
