Garrett A. McBrayer, PhD
Garrett A. McBrayer, Ph.D. is an assistant professor in the Department of Finance in the College of Business and Economics. After an eight year career in finance, he received his Ph.D. from the University of Arkansas in 2015 and joined the faculty at Boise State in the fall of 2015. Garrett's research specializes in information asymmetry, corporate finance, and investments, with a particular focus on firm transparency and financial contagion. His latest work examines such topics as the spillover valuation effects of credit rating changes on equity markets, the impact of firm transparency on the firm’s cost of capital, and the global integration of financial markets.
Professor McBrayer’s research has been featured in academic conferences across the United States. He has been awarded or nominated for multiple honors and awards, such as the Doctoral Academy Fellowship while attending the University of Arkansas.
Outside of his academic career, Garrett enjoys spending time with his family exploring Idaho. On any given weekend, you might find them skiing at Bogus Basin, fly-fishing on the Owyhee, biking through the foothills, or just enjoying one of the many fantastic parks around Boise.
