Brian D. Knox joined Boise State University in 2017 as an Assistant Professor of Accountancy. He has a PhD in Accounting from the University of Pittsburgh, and he is a CPA, passing the four-part CPA exam between April and August of 2012. His accounting-related work experience includes work at a state government agency (reviewing cost contracts) as well as at a Fortune 500 company (serving as lead and support cost accountant for several departments).
Dr. Knox’s research interests include managerial accounting topics such as strategic cost management, managerial decision making, performance measurement, and planning. In many of his research projects, he focuses on the “human element” that individuals bring to the table as they create, communicate, and use managerial accounting information.
