Background
The College of Business and Economics MBA Honors Track provides MBA students and recent MBA alumni the opportunity to explore practical business issues, receive executive level coaching from a personal coach and individual corporate mentoring support from area business leaders. Selection is limited to 10-12 participants each year.
In general, the program consists of three mandatory components:
- One-on-one executive coaching sessions (1.5 hrs/mo)
- Corporate mentoring (2 hrs/mo)
- Peer-to-peer forums (9:30–3:30 on designated Saturdays each month from September to May)
There are two additional optional events (Guests may be invited):
- Mid-term activity (January)
- Final “graduation” dinner (May)
Each participant is asked to keep the details of every conversation absolutely confidential, there is no grade given for the program, and 100% participation in the mandatory components is expected.

See the links on the left for recommendations for Mentors, Ideas for meetings, and etiquette of mentorship. These guidelines have been developed to assist both the students, mentors, and program coordinators; suggesting activities and actions to foster a successful mentor/student relationship. A typical Peer-to-Peer Forum day includes:
- 9:30–11:30 – Corporate Mentor sharing his/her “real life” success stories and career experiences as business owners/leaders (Mentors will be present for morning session only)
- 11:30–1:00 – Lunch, participant updates, and morning debrief
- 1:00–1:30 – Energizer focused on the “Poem-to-Live-By” (Link to poem)
- 1:30–3:30 – Executive session: participants use the group as their “personal board of directors” to address issues important to them. This session is limited to participants and the program co-leaders only, and all discussions are held in confidence
