Then one of our biggest events every year is attending the Society of Human Resources Management Student Conference. This year it is being held on April 20-21, 2012 at Pepperdine Univeristy in West Los Angeles, CA. Most of the expenses to attend the conference are paid by the student organization/BSU. The conference is made up of two elements, one is the educational sessions with HR Professionals, last year’s speakers included professionals from Microsoft and Starbucks. The second element is the HR Games which is a case study competition, a team of up to 6 students are given a situation and the team has 4 hours to analyze the case and put together a presentation and report. This is a great opportunity to show off your “HR smarts”, network with HR professionals, and represent BSU. The practices leading up to the competition are held during the day on Saturday. If you are interested you can e-mail us and we’ll give you more of the details.

On behalf of the Society for Human Resource Management, I am pleased to confirm that Boise State University has been awarded the 2010-2011 Superior Merit Award.  This award recognizes student chapter achievements and a commitment to providing meaningful programs and services to your members.

Your entire chapter should be very proud of this accomplishment. We received 138 entries this year from our more than 450 active student chapters and there were many creative and innovative programs conducted by our student chapter affiliates.  By achieving this award, your chapter distinguishes itself as an outstanding organization dedicated to serving the needs of your members and to the advancement of the human resource management profession.

Chapters that earned merit or superior merit status will receive an award plaque.  The plaque will be sent to your student chapter advisor in early June.  Additionally, a press release and full merit award report will be available at the end of May.

Congratulations on your achievement.

Sincerely,

Chuck Salvetti
