Heidelberg-Boise Project

Dr. Meredith A. Taylor Black recently returned from Heidelberg, Germany as part of the annual Heidelberg-Boise Project of the International Business Programs for the College of Business and Economics (COBE). Through participation in the Project, Idaho firms are able to assess and develop a strategy for entering the German/EU market. Dr. Taylor Black first worked with the selected Idaho firms in her International Management course, during which time an initial study of the firms and assessment of their export objectives were made. Results and recommendations by the BSU students were then offered to their Heidelburg counterparts during an initial series of video conferences. Dr. Taylor Black then traveled to Heidelberg to work with students at SRH University in Heidelberg and professional counterparts to determine the feasibility of the Idaho firms entering the designated market. The project will be completed this May. As part of her visit, Dr. Taylor Black met with COBE’s exceptional partners at SRH University in Heidelberg, including the President, to discuss the changing educational climate of Germany and the further development of BSU-SRH partnership projects and faculty/student exchanges. Additional highlights of the program included touring a number of firms – some of which had been recent participants in a project in which German firms worked with MBA students at BSU on devising strategies for entering the US market – and a visit to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France.
