Prior to becoming mayor, he worked as a municipal attorney for severalIdahojurisdictions and in private practice. He also served five sessions in the Idaho House of Representatives.

Mayor Bieter’s signature accomplishments include three new neighborhood libraries, three school-based community centers, and hundreds of acres of parks and Foothills open space, including the critical Stack Rock and Hammer Flat areas. He established the first (and still only) local government ethics commission inIdaho, and he has been a forceful advocate for improved transportation, sustainable and affordable growth, and a quality of life that’s essential to good jobs and strong businesses.
