Scholarships

The College of Business and Economics (COBE) awards scholarships each year to advance the success of individuals and organizations of Idaho. Scholarships reward outstanding academic performance and provide financial support to high quality students.

To qualify for COBE graduate scholarships, a student must

  • Enroll full-time (9 credits or more)
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Be fully admitted to their program by the March 1 deadline
  • Submit application materials (i.e. supplemental forms, admissions applications) no later than February 15.

Students wishing to be considered for need-based scholarships must mail the FAFSA to the federal processor by February 15.

Graduate Research/Teaching Assistantship (GA)

COBE offers a limited number of Graduate Assistantships (GA) for full-time graduate business students. To be eligible, candidates must:

  • Be fully admitted to their degree program by the application deadline

  • Attend full-time (9-12 graduate credits) during the award 

The GA waives all tuition and fees and pays a stipend of approximately $8,100 for the academic year. Occasionally, GA awards are available during the spring semester only. Contracts are not automatically renewed, but students may apply for a second year.

Graduate Residential Scholars Program (GRSP)

Scholars live in an on-campus residential community of graduate students representing diverse backgrounds and disciplinary interests. Each scholar is awarded a two-year graduate assistantship that includes a stipend ($10,000 per academic year), full waiver of tuition and fees, and free housing in the new and fully furnished University Square Apartments. Interested students must submit completed Graduate Assistant and GRSP Application Forms.

Each four-bedroom, four-person apartment has high-speed internet, reserved parking, and washer and dryer facilities. See housing for more information including floor plans. Prospective students can also call 208-426-3986 to schedule a tour.

Selection of scholars begins on February 1, with notification in late February. Note that this date may differ from than the application deadline for the graduate program to which the student is applying. Students interested in the GRSP are encouraged to check with their program coordinator to ensure that their application material is considered prior to the February 1 GRSP deadline.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduation Scholarship

The mission of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation is to help young people of exceptional promise reach their full potential through education. The focus is to provide scholarships for outstanding individuals with financial need. This program awards scholarships worth up to $50,000 each to college seniors or recent graduates to attend graduate or professional programs.
