Committee Assignments/Charges—FY07
Below are the COBE committee charges for FY07.
At the end of each semester, committee chairs are to provide to the Dean a brief analysis of each team member’s quality of participation. The Dean will distribute the feedback to department chairs for consideration in annual evaluations. In May, a short summary of the extent to which team charges were accomplished and any other tasks undertaken will be provided by the committee chair to the Dean, or reported at a COBE faculty/staff meeting when appropriate.
Communications Advisory Group
Oversee revisions for the COBE Styles Guide.
Explore strategies to improve students' communication skills (written and oral).
Evaluate and promote new communication resources for students and faculty.
Core Improvement
Continue the outcomes assessment process.
COBE Diversity
Overall goal: Promote diversity within COBE by making efforts to recruit and retain students from a wide variety of backgrounds, cultures and ethnic groups. Promote understanding of various groups and cultures in furtherance of the Boise State University Diversity policy. Specifically:
Participate in two or more events attended by current or prospective minority students, and provide information to them about COBE,
Meet with current COBE students from diverse backgrounds and discuss how diversity issues are, or should be, addressed at the college and university levels,
One member will join the Boise State Diversity Committee to share ideas and information about diversity programs and events.
Ethics
Examine the current ethics content in COBE classes. In written form, report how ethics is covered in the COBE curriculum and make recommendations to Core Improvement Team and Executive Council.
Events
Organize and ensure successful alumni golf tournament to be held on October 6.
Assist with and participate in other COBE events to be determined.
Executive MBA Task Force
Make required year 1 operational decisions such as guest speakers, standardization, etc.
Review year 1 (towards the end of spring semester) and prepare improvement plan.
Design year 2 curriculum in detail and prepare for first run at second year of the EMBA program.
Move any curriculum changes forward into the system.
Graduate Policy
One member of this committee must serve on the University Graduate Council.
Execute assessment process: Collect data on course-specific coverage of MBA program Objectives.
Execute assessment process: Review #1 above, looking for omissions and take action as necessary.
Review/Improve/Approve techno-MBA if brought forward by NOIS department.
Review/Improve/Approve "5th year MBA with engineering" if brought forward.
Review/Improve/Approve other graduate curriculum changes as required.
Promotion & Tenure
Carry out fall promotion and tenure evaluations and make recommendations to the Dean.
Scholarship
Attend and participate in the annual scholarship ceremony on September 8.
Determine the annual scholarship distributions, ensuring that each faculty member has the opportunity to provide input into the selection of scholarship recipients from his/her discipline.
Undergraduate Policy
Carry out traditional examination and approval processes for all undergraduate curriculum changes. One member of this committee must serve on the University Curriculum Committee.
Website Task Force
a. CMS Evaluation Team
Evaluate content management systems and select best one for COBE.
Develop implementation plan (in conjunction with subcommittee b. described below)
b. Website Business Planning Team
Determine a) what people should learn from COBE website, and b) what people should be able to do from COBE website,
Develop new look for website
Determine what content should be transferred to new website, what should be re-written, what should be left out
Develop processes for website governance, including:
What information will be on the website
What/When/How information be added or changed
Develop implementation plan (in conjunction with subcommittee a. described above)
