Boise Inc. Donates to Create Fund for Centre of Creativity and Innovation

Boise Inc. explored several ways they could help the College of Business and Economics (COBE) before deciding to create a fund which will fuel creativity. Boise Inc. executives presented Dean Shannon with a check for $45,000 for the Centre of Creativity and Innovation (CCI). The fund will help fulfill the COBE and CCI mission to be a place for creative community collaboration, learning and problem solving.

The fund will provide group facilitators for The Gang, a group of eight high-performing, highly creative Boise-based organizations who collaborate on problem solving in their organizations; support high caliber speakers for the Creative Edge Workshops, yearly gatherings on creativity and innovation; and help build the knowledge base of students and faculty members on organizational creativity and innovation through case studies, surveys and other approaches.

“Being creative is key to success in today’s rapidly changing world,” said Alexander Toeldte, CEO of Boise Inc. “Creativity involves an ability to come up with different viewpoints on a subject and to restructure our knowledge to gain new insights. Creative problem solving enables business people to effectively manage novel challenges and opportunities.”

Boise Inc. will also be the underwriter of CCI Press’ inaugural publication of the Business Aha! Tips, a series of concise, easy-to-read books written by Boise State business and economics faculty to help managers apply creativity for themselves and their organizations.

“We are continuously looking for new talent in our company and we need creative, innovative people to lead in the future,” says Toeldte. “It’s important to learn how to be creative and so we think this is the perfect way for us to work with COBE.”
