About Beta Gamma Sigma

What is Beta Gamma Sigma?

Beta Gamma Sigma is the international honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive in a business program accredited by AACSB International.

Mission

The Mission of the International Honor Society Beta Gamma Sigma is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business, to foster personal and professional excellence, to advance the values of the Society, and to serve its lifelong members.

History

Beta Gamma Sigma was founded as a national organization in 1913 at the University of Wisconsin, University of Illinois and University of California. With the global expansion of AACSB International, Society membership is no longer limited to those who have studied in the United States or Canada. Beta Gamma Sigma continues to recognize the most outstanding students of business and management.

These 625,000 members have served in corporate, government, non-profit, educational, and other management positions at every level of responsibility. Members currently reside in all 50 U.S. states and more than 160 countries around the world.

The Society maintains an active database with more than 480,000 members’ mailing addresses and other information. In 2008-09, the Society inducted about 23,000 new members.
